Alturas Pain and Spine Specialists is an exceptional pain management practice in St. George, Utah. Founder and board-certified pain management specialist Stacie Oliver, MD, welcomes patients to her office for multimodal, comprehensive pain care using the latest evidence-based techniques and technologies.

Stacie Oliver, MD is a fellowship trained interventional pain medicine physician and is board certified in both anesthesiology and pain medicine. She is now in private practice at Alturas Pain and Spine Specialists in St. George, Utah. She chose interventional pain medicine as a specialty because of the opportunity it gives her to develop long-lasting relationships with her patients and help them achieve a higher quality of life through the treatment of their pain.

A native of Idaho, Dr. Oliver grew up loving the outdoors. She spent many weekends and family holidays in the mountains of the West. Her father, also a physician, would take her to Africa to assist in medical mission trips as a child. There she developed a love for helping improve people’s quality of life through medicine. She completed her undergraduate degree in Chemistry with high honors at Boise State University and moved to Salt Lake in 2006 to attend the University of Utah School of Medicine. During her four years of medical school, she would escape to southern Utah whenever possible to explore new places and activities. It was during this time, she resolved to someday return to St George to raise her family. 

She followed her husband’s military career to the Midwest where Dr. Oliver completed an intern year in internal medicine and then a residency in anesthesiology. During her residency she received awards for teamwork, teaching, and academics all while scoring in the top 10th percentile nationally of physicians in her specialty. She was invited to complete her fellowship in pain medicine at the University of California Los Angeles. At UCLA, Dr. Oliver trained in the latest techniques of outpatient interventional pain medicine and also inpatient management of acute and chronic pain. 

Dr. Oliver practices a multidisciplinary and minimally invasive approach in the treatment of chronic pain at its source. She places positive patient outcomes and the individual’s well-being above all else. She has developed a reputation for excellent patient care while staying up to date on the best evidence-based therapies for the treatment of pain. 

In her time outside of work, Dr. Oliver and her husband continue to stay busy with their five children. As a family they are very active outdoors, enjoying hiking, snowboarding, and trips to Lake Powell. While she used to do more extreme sports like rock climbing and canyoneering, her time now is often spent trying to find new recipes to cook for her family. She is also active in her community and church and is committed to doing her small part to help improve the lives of the people of Southern Utah.
